Mykonos Greece - Oct 12
The harbor at Mykonos, Greece
We arrived
early in the
morning,
so I took
this sunrise
picture of
the harbor.
A local musician
plays the
harmonica for us
as we board
another boat for
a short trip to
the island of
Delos.
Our ship
Kathy at Delos
These are some of the best
preserved ruins in Greece and they
date from 300 BC. This island is
supposedly the birth place of the
Greek god Apollo.
Delos is a pretty
barren place, but
evidently in its time it
was the cultural and
trading center of this
region. The plant at
left is covered with
thorns.
Greek writing
is apparent on
many of the
monuments
and stones
like this one.
I took a lot of
pictures of the
ruins that I'll
show when
we get back,
but here are a
couple for now.
When we got back from our tour of Delos we
spent a couple of hours shopping in Mykonos.
Kathy bought jewelry and I bought a shot
glass to add to my collection. The church on
the left is one of the more famous sights in
Mykonos. The streets in the harbor area are
pretty much walking only since they are so
narrow.
