Located near the southeastern corner of Sicily on the Ionian coast, Syracuse
(Siracusa) is built on an ancient Greek settlement founded by Corinthians in 734 BC.
More than any other modern city in Sicily, Syracuse reveals the island’s ancient Greek
past.

Kathy and I took a little
walking tour of the city
since we signed up too late
for the excursion.
There was a very
interesting ruin of a temple
to Apollo right in the center
of town.  The other people
in our group that went on
the excursion saw many
other ancient ruins that dot
Sicily.
Back on the ship we sat on
the balcony and enjoyed
the sunset as we left
Syracuse for Alexandria.
This was the first formal night of the cruise
We joined the
rest of our
group for the

dinner (and
gambling
later!!)
